New Moon in Aquarius - Expect the Unexpected & a Nod to the god Janus (January)

A New Moon occurs when the Sun & Moon are conjunct, or at the same degree and minute of the same zodiac sign. This conjunction between the Sun and Moon accentuates the energy of the sign, and is a wonderful time of the lunar cycle to think about new beginnings, manifesting and setting intentions for the next 6 months.

This month's New Moon occurs on Friday, January 24th at 4:42 pm (EST) at approximately 4 degrees of the sign of Aquarius (I love all the 2s and 4s!). The signature oil of Aquarius is Neroli, which comprises most of this New Moon blend. Neroli is the flower of the Bitter Orange tree, and I love blending oils from the same plant, which is why I chose Orange (Sweet or Bitter) for the second oil in the blend. It's very vibrant, cohesive, uplifting and a bit eccentric. It's also lovely to smell flowers in the middle of Winter here in the Northern Hemisphere.

The blend is listed below and a PDF copy can be downloaded here.

New Moon in Aquarius Diffuser Blend

6-7 drops Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. Amara)

4-3 drops Orange Sweet or Bitter

(Citrus sinensis or Citrus aurantium)

Add the oils to your favorite diffuser and breathe deeply.

Let me know what you think of this blend in the comments below!

This New Moon's catch phrase could be "expect the unexpected" due to its relationship to a couple of planets.

What has been trying to move into your life that will help you individuate?

What has been happening in the last couple of months that you could more fully embrace in order to feel more freedom in your life?

Are there any catalysts for change?

Aquarius is the eccentric, the innovator, the futurist and the humanitarian.

Has anything been pushing you to be more yourself that would also help you bring your unique gifts to your community or even humanity?

Another fun thing to ponder is the origin of the word January. I came across this recently and find it fascinating. The root of the word January is Janus, the god of the threshold. Hasn't it felt like we've been straddling a threshold lately, looking backwards into old forms that are falling and forward into the new, and the unknown? Read more about Janus here.

New Moon blessings!
